PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve installability of a washing machine.SOLUTION: A washing machine 1 includes a washing/dewatering tub 4 having a pulsator 5 for stirring laundry 26, an approximately cylindrical water tub 3 having the washing/dewatering tub 4 rotatably disposed therein, driving means 7 for driving the pulsator 5 and the washing/dewatering tub 4, an upper frame body 18 covering the water tub 3 and the washing/dewatering tub 4, and a safety switch 24 and a vibration-detecting lever 25 disposed in the vicinity of one part of four corners of the upper frame body 18 and detecting the vibration of the water tub 3. The safety switch 24 and the vibration-detecting lever 25 are disposed so that a detecting direction of the vibration detecting lever 25 matches an approximately radial direction of the water tub 3. With a conventional distance relation between the water tub 3 and the vibration-detecting lever 25, a moving amount of the vibration-detecting lever 25 capable of detecting the vibration of the water tub 3 can be secured. A dimension in a longitudinal direction of a main body of the washing machine 1 thereby can be reduced at least by a moving amount difference between the detecting lever 25 and a conventional one in a longitudinal direction of the washing machine 1. |
