PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting resin composition suitable for producing a friction material excellent in heat resistance, flexibility and wear resistance, and to provide a friction material.SOLUTION: The thermosetting resin composition includes a triazine-modified resol-type phenol resin (1) obtained by reacting bisphenol (a), triazine (b), aldehydes (c), and a novolac-type phenol resin (e1) obtained by using phenol (d) as an essential constitutive component or a triazine-modified resol-type phenol resin (2) obtained by reacting the phenol (d), the triazine (b), the aldehydes (c), and a novolac-type phenol resin (e2) obtained by using the bisphenol (a), as an essential constitutive component, wherein the use amount of bisphenol (a) and phenol (d), [bisphenol (a)/phenol (d)] is 0.4 to 1.0 on a molar conversion basis. The friction material is obtained by using the composition. |
