PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly adjust the positional shift of a laser beam in a multiple-line parallel emission in the case of using a light source of plural emission parts.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus, in which plural light beams from plural emission parts are scanned in a primary scanning direction of an image carrier to emit in the equivalency of plural lines in parallel, with the image carrier driven in a secondary scanning direction orthogonal to the primary scanning direction, performs, when determining an emission timing of the plural emission parts: outputting an adjustment pattern by emitting in the equivalency of the plural lines so as to include plural timing change states obtained by changing the emission timing of the plural emission parts; calculating an MTF characteristic of each of the plural timing change states in the primary scanning direction, the states included in the adjustment pattern; and determining, as the emission timing of the plural emission parts, the emission timing for the adjustment pattern in which the value of the MTF characteristic is the highest. |
