PURPOSE: A payment device at a broadcasting receiver using a portable terminal and a method there of can use a portable terminal equipped with card reader function, and thereby can directly purchase a product or a service. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal transmits a payment signal to a television (201). The television which received the payment signal from the portable terminal transmits an extracted product or service code to a server (202). The server which received the extracted product or service code from the television transmits detailed information of the product or the service to television (203). Through connection or connectionless communication, payment information of a card is transmitted to the portable terminal (204). The portable terminal which received the payment information from the card transmits the received payment information to the television (205). The television which received the payment information from the portable terminal requests a payment approval to a payment service provider (206). The payment service provider who received a request for the payment approval from the television notifies the payment approval result to the server (207). The server which received a payment approval result from the payment service provider transmits the received payment approval result to the television (208).
