PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter which can further reduce pressure loss.SOLUTION: The honeycomb filter 20 includes a corner trapping layer 24b having a high porosity region 35b. In this honeycomb filter 20, therefore, the permeation resistance of the corner trapping layer 24b is small, compared to the permeation resistance of a corner trapping layer 24b not having the high porosity region 35b. This reduces pressure loss when a fluid passes through an inter-major-cell partition 22b including the corner trapping layer 24b and corner partition 22d. As a result, for example, when an offgas PM deposits on a side trapping layer 24a and, consequently the flow rate of offgas passing through the inter-major-cell partition 22b becomes relatively higher than that before the offgas deposition, the pressure loss at the corner trapping layer 24b is further reduced to further reduce pressure loss caused by trapping layer 24 as a whole. |
