PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a stator which can firmly ensure that both ends of insulation paper have insulation performance by maintaining an overlapping state of the insulation paper which is folded so that both of the ends are overlapped with each other inside and outside on the inner diameter side of a slot portion.SOLUTION: A stator 10 includes: a stator core 8 which is formed to have an annular shape and has tooth portions 81 each having flanges 811 at both ends in the circumferential direction on the inner diameter side and slot portions 82 sandwiched between the tooth portions; insulation paper Z each inserted into the slot portion and having both ends Z11, Z12 which are overlapped with each other inside and outside on the inner diameter side; a stator coil 9 wound via the insulation paper Z; and wedge paper X restricting protrusion of the stator coil to the stator core inner diameter side. In a method of manufacturing the stator, the length in the circumferential direction of the inner end Z12 of both ends of the insulation paper Z is formed to be longer than that of the outer end Z11.
