PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery, high in strength and large in discharge capacity.SOLUTION: A rustproof metal sheet for supporting a negative electrode active material of a lithium ion secondary battery is a rustproof metal sheet 20 which includes copper coating layers 7 on both sides of a steel sheet 6 and a rust inhibitor layer 8 on a surface of each of the copper coating layers 7. In the rustproof metal sheet 20, the total thickness t of the steel sheet 6 and the copper coating layers 7 on both sides is 3-100 μm, and each of the copper coating layers 7 on both sides has an average film thickness tof 0.02-5.0 μm and t/t of 0.3 or less. The rust inhibitor layer 8 is more preferably obtained by rolling the rust inhibitor layer 8, which is stuck on a surface of a copper coated steel sheet 10 serving as an intermediate product, together with the copper coated steel sheet 10 to be reduced in thickness. A rust inhibitor, for example blended with benzotriazole, can be used. |
