PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the performance of a valve characteristic control apparatus which controls the valve characteristics of an engine valve in an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine 1 wherein a plurality of cylinders 3 are opened and closed with individual engine valves Vi1, Vi2, a valve characteristic control apparatus 10 which controls the valve characteristics of the engine valves Vi1, Vi2 includes a plurality of individual adjustment mechanisms 20 which are built-in the respective groups of valve cams C1, C2 for driving the individual engine valves Vi1, Vi2 of the cylinders 3 and independently adjust the rotation phases of the valve cams C1, C2 built therein relative to a camshaft 2 of the internal combustion engine 1. Thereby, individual controlling of the valve characteristic control apparatus into a necessary state is made possible for enhancing the performance of the internal combustion engine 1 with regard to the combustion state different in each cylinder 3 resulting from manufacturing tolerance. |
