PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-insulation switching device and a gas exchanging method capable of efficiently recovering gas in a short time.SOLUTION: A gas-insulation switching device according to an embodiment comprises: a closed vessel 1 filled with insulation gas; a closure flange 7a covering an opening provided on the closed vessel 1; an absorbent case 2a housing an absorbent 3; and a rod 6 whose one side in a longitudinal direction is supported by the closure flange 7a and whose other side movably supports the absorbent case 2a. When the rod 6 supports the absorbent case 2a into close contact with the closure flange 7a, the vessel is blocked into an absorbent housing gas zone 14 housing the absorbent 3 and a vessel body gas zone 15 housing an electric contact point 30. When the rod 6 supports the absorbent case 2a not in close contact with the closure flange 7a, the absorbent housing gas zone 14 and the vessel body gas zone 15 are communicated with each other to cancel the zones.
