PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an alkaline secondary battery capable of achieving higher capacity of a battery due to thinning of a bottom wall of an exterior can, and simultaneously capable of suppressing the occurrence of a bulge of the bottom wall of the exterior can associated with the rise of an internal pressure.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an alkaline secondary battery includes: a bottom wall thinning process of pressing a first punch body 56 having a convexly curved bottom end 60 to a center portion 70 of a disc 44, and processing the center portion 70 of the disc 44 into a curved shape to thin it; an intermediate product formation process of applying drawing process to the convexly curved disc 44 to form a first intermediate product 50; a flattening process of sandwiching the curved bottom of the first intermediate product 50 between a lower end face 82 of a second punch body 78 and an upper end face 96 of a receiving tool 76 to flatten the curved bottom of the first intermediate product; a deep drawing process of applying drawing process to the first intermediate product having the flattened bottom; and a finish process of applying final drawing process to the second intermediate product 100 obtained through the deep drawing process to form an exterior can 10. |
