PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alcohol sensor having a high level of detection accuracy and a long useful life.SOLUTION: An alcohol sensor 1 comprises a plurality of fuel cell type elements 3, a casing 2, an opening/closing valve 5 and a controller 6. Each of the plurality of fuel cell type elements 3 has an electrolyte layer and a pair of electrodes, and detects the concentration of alcohol in a gas subjected to detection. The casing 2 has a channel 4 through which the gas subjected to detection flows, and is mounted with the plurality of fuel cell type elements 3. The opening/closing valve 5, disposed in the casing 2, opens and closes branch channels 42, each divided out of the channel 4 for each of the plurality of fuel cell type elements 3, on the upstream side of the branch channel 42. The controller 6 causes the gas subjected to detection to flow into one of the plurality of fuel cell type elements 3 by switching over the opening-closing valve 5. |
