An optical fiber type light guide plate and a backlight unit having the same are provided to be applied to a flexible display device by reducing the thickness and to improve flatness of emitted light. An optical fiber type light guide plate includes a core(110), and a clad(120). The clad covers the periphery of the core. The clad has a light guide unit(121) having a refraction rate less than that of the core, and a light emitting unit(122) having a refraction rate greater than or equal to that of the core. A plurality of optical fiber bundles are arranged in parallel and form a plate body. The light emission unit is formed on a part of the periphery of the core in a predetermined region. The light emission unit covers the whole periphery of the core in a predetermined region. |
