PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping device for a workpiece that can suitably cope with a plurality of kinds of workpieces.SOLUTION: The gripping device 5 is mounted on a length adjustment device 1 of a tie rod which is a working device, and grips angular shape parts 101b and 101b' of rod ends of the tie rod which are the parts to be gripped. The gripping device 5 includes: a base plate 21 fixed to the working device; a pair of pawls 51 and 51 having long holes 51c formed therein, swingably journaled to the base plate 21 centering around pins 51d inserted in the long holes 51c as a swing center, and gripping the angular shape parts 101b and 101b' by sandwiching thereof from both sides; a pressing element 52 disposed on the base plate 21 and supporting the pair of pawls 51 and 51 in an opened state in which one end side of the pawls 51 and 51 are away toward a direction of separating from each other; a pressing element 53 formed with inclined surface 53a which is in slide-contact with the other end side of the pair of pawls 51 ad 51; and a drive mechanism 54 allowing the inclined surface 53a of the pressing element 53 in slide-contact with the other end side of the pair of pawls 51 and 51 to press so that the pressing element 53 is freely moved forward and backward. |
