PURPOSE: A device for displaying an ambient vehicle and a method thereof are provided to measure the distance between a vehicle and the ambient vehicle and to easily recognize the ambient vehicle which is located in a close distance. CONSTITUTION: A device for displaying an ambient vehicle comprises an image acquisition unit(100), a vehicle identification unit(200), a distance measuring unit(300), a control unit(400), and a display unit(500). The image acquisition unit acquires ambient images around a vehicle. The vehicle identification unit identifies an ambient vehicle from the ambient images. The distance measuring unit measures the distance to the ambient vehicle. The control unit generates a synthetic image which synthesizes indication information with the ambient images. The display unit displays the synthetic image.
