PURPOSE: Image display device and image display method are provided to offer improved stereoscopic perception of a stereoscopic image by adjusting brightness of the stereoscopic image. CONSTITUTION: An image display device obtains stereoscopic image data (S410). A control unit of the image display device detects depth of an object included in the obtained stereoscopic image data (S420). The control unit configures brightness information with respect to the object based on the detected depth (S430). The control unit displays a stereoscopic image based on the configured brightness information (S440).
