<p>PURPOSE: Chestnut peeling apparatus and method effectively peeling large amount of chestnuts in short time are provided to maintain the high temperature and the high pressure condition of a transfer unit for completely peeling the chestnuts. CONSTITUTION: A chestnut peeling apparatus comprises the following: a transfer unit(20) including an inlet(50) for inserting chestnuts supplied from a feeding hopper(10) to the transfer unit; a peeling unit(30) separating the skin of the chestnuts from the discharging end of the transfer unit; a peeling pipe(32) connected to the discharging end of the transfer unit; first and second opening/closing valves(34, 36) installed on the insertion and discharge ends of the peeling pipe; a peeling space(38) installed In between the valve for temporally storing the high temperature and high pressure chestnuts; an inlet pipe(52) connecting the transfer unit and the feeding hopper; a feeding valve(54) opening the entrance of an insertion pipe; an insertion valve(56) installed on the discharging end of the insertion pipe; and a settling space(58) installed in between the feeding valve and the insertion valve.
