PURPOSE: An electronic device and a media content play method thereof are provided to control a content play speed by changing an inverse sampling rate corresponding to a sampling rate. CONSTITUTION: A play unit plays media content. A control unit (180) generates a control signal in response to a control command for a content play speed. An audio parser (212a) detects a sampling rate by parsing an audio stream of media content. An audio decoder (214a) changes an inverse sampling rate corresponding to the sampling rate according to the control signal. The audio decoder decodes the audio stream based on the inverse sampling rate.
