A device search and interface method is provided to search devices automatically by using a preset logical address value and select an arbitrary port installed in an HDMI module by performing interface with a device selected through a menu screen, thereby more efficiently receiving audio/video signals from the device and displaying the received signals on a screen. If a device search mode is set, a ping message is transmitted to a preset logical address value(S10,S11). After receiving a ping response message transmitted from each device, a logical address value of a corresponding device is confirmed(S12). If the logical address value of the device is not overlapped, devices connected to a current HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) module are registered as devices capable of user selection and then a user interface menu screen is displayed by controlling operations of an OSD(On Screen Display) generator(S13,S14). If an arbitrary device is selected through the menu screen, a message for notifying user selection is transmitted to a logical address value of the device(S15,S16). As alternatively and continuously applying an HPD(Hot Plug Detection) signal to plural ports installed in the HDMI module, an EDID(Enhanced Extended Identification) is provided to the device(S17). If a physical address value of a DVD(Digital Video Disk) recorder is received, a first port connected to the DVD recorder is selected before receiving audio/video signals provided from the DVD recorder through the first port and displaying the received signals on a screen(S18,S19). |
