PURPOSE: A home appliance, a diagnostic unit, and a diagnostic method thereof are provided to improve an accuracy of a home appliance diagnosis by improving an accuracy of extracted product information. CONSTITUTION: If a diagnosis operation command is inputted by an input unit, a control unit (140) sets up a smart diagnosis mode. The control unit generates a control signal by encoding product information which includes at least one of home appliance information among identification information, setup information, operation information, and malfunction information. The control unit converts the control signal into a tone. The control unit outputs the tone through a sound output unit. The control unit generates the control signal by including at least one of 'test data for determining whether a frame is normal or not' in multiple frames which are included in the control signal.
