PURPOSE: A device and a method for calculating the volume of waste materials are provided to calculate a volume of the waste materials in a landfill facility and to calculate the amount of buried waste materials for a specific period according to the change in the volume of the waste materials. CONSTITUTION: A device for calculating the volume of waste materials comprises an input unit (110), a processor (130), and a memory (140). The input unit receives a stereo video in which the waste materials are photographed. The stereo video is amended according to a preset pattern so that a stereo image is generated. A point cluster according to the stereo image is generated. A uniform mesh according to the point cluster is generated. A reference plane is set at preset coordinates. The point cluster is projected on the reference plane. Average projection height with respect to the points corresponding to each lattice surface of the uniform mesh is calculated. Volumes corresponding to the each lattice surface are calculated by multiplying the average projection height and the area of the mesh.
