In order to increase productivity, achieve high forming die heating efficiency, and decrease temperature variations between forming dies, a method of manufacturing a glass formed member comprises: a heating step of heating forming dies (60A, 60B) housing glass material; a press-forming step of press-forming the glass material; and a cooling step of cooling the glass material after press-forming. The heating step includes the use of heating members disposed on both sides of a support base (30) along one direction (M) in which the support base (30) is transported, and transporting the two forming dies (60A, 60B) while the order in which the two forming dies (60A, 60B) are arranged on a support plane of the support base (30) with respect to the direction (M) of transport of the support base (30) is reversed at least once by rotating the support base (30), for example, during the transport of the support base (30) between the heating members. A glass formed member manufacturing apparatus employs the method.
