A washing machine and a liquid detergent detector for the same are provided to reduce installation space by installing a detergent container inside a washing machine body or at the lower part of the body to not be exposed to the outside. A washing machine comprises a body(11), a tub(12), a detergent supply unit(31), and a residual liquid detergent detector(41). The residual liquid detergent detector has a supporting member, a rotary member, a float, a magnet, and sensors. The supporting member is placed at a predetermined location inside a detergent container(51). The rotary member rotates on the supporting member. The float is coupled to the rotary member and the magnet is attached to the float. The sensor is installed at the lower part of the detergent container to detect magnetic field of the magnet. |
