PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material that exhibits sufficient self-cleaning performance when a large amount of water (rainwater) has come into contact therewith, wherein even if the amount of water (rainwater) is low, lines of dirt comprising accumulated dust or the like do not occur on the surface of the composite material.SOLUTION: This composite material includes a substrate and a surface layer formed on the surface of the substrate and contains a first material, a second material and a third material. The first material is the photocatalytic material; the second material is the compound selected from the groups comprising the oxide, inorganic salt and organic salt containing the metal selected from Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ga, Zr, Y, In and Hf; and the third material is the compound selected from the group comprising silica, alkali silicate, and an amorphous titania, and contains alumina as an optional component, and combines the first material of 0-20 mass%, the second material of 35-60 mass%, the third material of 10-65 mass% and the alumina of 0-10 mass%. |
