PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery that benefits from the effects of a coating reliably.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution. The negative electrode includes a coating derived from lithium bis(oxalate)borate. The coating derived from lithium bis(oxalate)borate and formed on the negative electrode, shows a specific peak in the wave number range of 1600 cmto 1720 cmin an absorbance spectrum obtained by infrared spectroscopy.
