A regenerator (22), which performs a regeneration process on a particulate matter removal filter (21), estimates the collection quantity of particulate matter collected by the filter (21) using a dual system. Specifically, said dual system comprises: a means for estimating a first estimated collection quantity (Q1) on the basis of the rotational speed (N) of an engine (10) and a fuel injection quantity (F); and a means for estimating a second collection quantity (Q2) on the basis of a differential pressure in the particulate matter removal filter (21). The regenerator (22) determines whether or not to perform the regeneration process according to whether or not at least one of the estimated collection quantities among the two estimated collection quantities (Q1, Q2) is greater than or equal to a preset collection quantity threshold value (Qs). In addition, the regenerator (22) determines that there is a malfunction in the regenerator (22) if the second estimated collection amount (Q2) becomes larger than the first estimated collection quantity (Q1). |
