PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for alkyl glycoside with which alkyl glycoside can be obtained easily and economically while suppressing a by-product of poly-glucose.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for alkyl glycoside includes reacting sugar with a higher alcohol in the presence of an ether compound represented by general formula (1) of R-O-(AO)m-R(wherein Rdenotes an alkyl group with 1 to 3 carbons or a branched alkyl group with 4 to 18 carbons, Rdenotes a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group with 1 to 3 carbons, AO denotes an alkyleneoxy group with 2 to 4 carbons and (m) denotes the average number of added moles of the alkyleneoxy group which is 1 to 4, and when Ris the alkyl group with 1 to 3 carbons, Ris the alkyl group with 1 to 3 carbons). |
