The block (10) has a bearing support (13) for retaining a bearing and formed by a crankcase (11) and/or a bearing cover (12). A tie rod connector (14) connects the crankcase and the bearing cover and comprises tie rod screws (15-18) i.e. main bearing screws, and threaded sleeves (19, 20) that are screwed into the tie rod screws. The bearing support comprises mounting openings (21, 22) for assembling to the threaded sleeves, where the mounting openings are accessible in a mounted state of the crankcase and the bearing cover. The tie rod screws radially engage with the mounting openings. The mounting openings form ventilation apertures.
