<p>The objective of the present invention is to provide: a fluorescent body having a higher light emission strength than conventional fluorescent bodies; and a high-brightness light emission device that uses the fluorescent body. The nitride or oxynitride fluorescent body has a Cu content of no greater than 15 ppm. The nitride or oxynitride fluorescent body contains: a beta-sialon fluorescent body represented by the general formula Si6-zAlzOzN8-z (0 < z <= 4.2) and containing Eu as the light-emission center; an alpha-sialon fluorescent body represented by the general formula (MI)x(Eu)y(Si,Al)12(O,N)16; and a fluorescent body represented by the general formula (MII)x(Si,Al)2(N,O)3±y, a portion of the element MII being substituted with the element Eu, and the primary crystal phase having the same crystal structure as CaAlSiN3.</p> |
