PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift range switcher configured to reduce a time period in which heat release of a motor switching a shift range and of an ECU supplying current to the motor is prohibited.SOLUTION: A microcomputer of an ECU adds to an estimated temperature with increased temperature values of the ECU and a motor by driving of the motor when an IGN operation or switching of a shift range is performed. Then, the decreased temperature value of the ECU and the motor, when the motor is de-energized, is subtracted from the estimated temperature (S1-S40). When the estimated temperature of the ECU has reached the allowable temperature limit or when the temperature of the motor has reached the allowable temperature limit of the motor (S41: YES), the microcomputer prohibits the movement of the ECU and the motor (S42, S45). Accordingly, the shift range switcher can operates the ECU and the motor until about the same time when actual temperatures of the ECU or the motor reaches the allowable temperature limits. |
