PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meter reading system and a meter reading method capable of correctly acknowledging who has read a meter and capable of calculating a usage fee.SOLUTION: A meter reading server 200 of a meter reading system 1 comprises: customer recognition means 202 for checking authentication data stored in a customer DB22 with image data of a user face received from a communication terminal 100, to specify authentication data of the user face and further customer information corresponding to the authentication data; indication value recognition means 201 for checking collation model data stored in an indication value recognition DB 21 with image data of an indication value display part 40 received from the communication terminal 100, to specify a display state of the indication value display part 40 and further an indication value corresponding to the display state; and fee calculation means 205 for calculating a usage fee according to the indication value specified by the indication value recognition means 201 and the customer information specified by the customer recognition means 202, and a user who has photographed a gas meter 400. |
