PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide zirconium oxide nanoparticles, a hydrosol of the same, and a composition and method for manufacturing the zirconium oxide nanoparticles.SOLUTION: Zirconium oxide nanoparticles can be obtained by hydrothermally synthesizing a composition comprising: a water-soluble zirconium salt; a hydroxide ion-supplying agent; a carboxylic anion-supplying agent; and water. The zirconium oxide nanoparticles has carboxylic groups (-COOH) on their surfaces, and are capable of being dispersed into water to provide a uniform, stable and transparent hydrosol of the zirconium oxide nanoparticles. |
