PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detection device of an in-vehicle motor, capable of detecting fault in an in-vehicle motor well based on abnormality of a current flowing through the coil of an in-vehicle motor.SOLUTION: Upon occurrence of abnormality of a current flowing through the coils 21, 22 of a stepper motor 12, an error flag EF1 or EF2 is turned on, and in response to the error flag, excitation pattern of the stepper motor 12 is maintained regardless of a command for rotating the stepper motor 12 to a target rotation position, and the rotation position of the stepper motor 12 is maintained forcibly. Upon elapsing a time required for 5 step rotation of the stepper motor 12 after forced maintenance of rotation position is started, a determination is made as to whether or not a fault is occurring in the stepper motor 12. |
