The moistening device (1) has a nozzle support plate (8) and multiple nozzles (3) distributed over the web width of the fibrous web in machine transverse direction. A moisture mist is generated by the nozzles. The nozzle support plate comprises a heating device by which the nozzle support plate is heated. The nozzle support plate is heated to a temperature of 80 degree Celsius. The nozzle support plate is unheated in the region of nozzles. The nozzle support plate is double-walled in the heated areas so that the nozzle support plate is heated by steam, water or oil.
