PURPOSE: A biomarker for diagnosis of cancer is provided to be able to efficiently detect and isolate the cancer stem cell or the epithelial-mesenchymal transited circulating tumor cell. CONSTITUTION: A biomarker for detecting the cancer stem cell or the epithelial-mesenchymal transited circulating tumor cell includes Caveolin-1 of which the expression relatively increases in the cancer cell compared to the normal cell. A kit for detecting the cancer stem cell or the epithelium-mesenchymal transited circulating tumor cell includes Caveolin-1 or an antibody specifically binding to its fragment, or its antigen binding fragment. A method of isolating the cancer stem cell or the epithelium-mesenchymal transited circulating tumor cell comprises a step of detecting the cancer stem cell or the epithelium-mesenchymal transited circulating tumor cell in which Caveolin-1 is expressed on the cell surface from a biological sample; and a step of isolating the detected cancer stem cell or epithelium-mesnchymal transited circulating tumor cell from the biological sample.
