<p>Improvements in the Processing and Utilisation of Coal p1 Abstract Coal deposits in the Galilee Basin are converted to methanol in or near to the Galilee Basin and the carbon dioxide released in this conversion step is converted by solar means into additional methanol. The resultant methanol is pipelined to offshore loading systems in the Gulf of Carpentaria enabling the coal and solar-sourced methanol to be exported as methanol in bulk carriers from the western side of Cape York, eliminating the need to ship Galilee Basin coal through the Great Barrier Reef and providing a shorter shipping distance to premium Asian markets for Galilee Basin coal and solar-based energy.</p> |
