PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating an autoimmune disease including multiple sclerosis.SOLUTION: A method for treating an autoimmune disease including a step of administering interferon &bgr; and an interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R) antagonist to a subject is disclosed. The IL-2R antagonist is an anti-IL-2R monoclonal antibody specific for one or more chains of the IL-2R, such as the α-chain, for example daclizumab. The interferon &bgr; comprises interferon &bgr;1a or/and interferon &bgr;1b.
