PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply practicable process for preparation of directly compressible α-mannitol.SOLUTION: The process for preparation of a directly compressible mannitol having an α-metamorphosis exceeding 90% includes the steps in which: (a) an aqueous D-mannitol solution is combined with spray gas, powdered α-mannitol, and hot gas, wherein air or an inert gas selected from the group Nand COis used both as a spray gas and as a carrier gas and heating gas; (b) the resulting powdered product falls into a fluid bed, is absorbed, fluidized, and transported; (c) a partial quantity of the resulting powdered product is returned to the processing; and optionally (d) the resulting powder is sprayed with an additional fluid medium, dried, and transported in a fixed bed in one or several granulation step(s). |
