A light source device is provided with: a first light source for issuing light of a first polarization of a first wavelength band; a second light source for issuing light of a second polarization having a polarization direction offset by 90° from the light of the first polarization; a third light source for issuing light of a third polarization of a second wavelength band; a fourth light source for issuing light of a fourth polarization having a polarization direction offset by 90° from the light of the third polarization; a reflection element (7rp) for reflecting the light of the first polarization; a first selective transmission element (8rs) for allowing transmission of the light of the first polarization and reflecting the light of the second polarization, on the basis of the direction of polarization of the light; a second selective transmission element (7gp) for allowing transmission of light obtained when the light of the first polarization and the light of the second polarization are combined, on the basis of the wavelength band of the light, and for reflecting the light of the third polarization on the basis of the wavelength band of the light; and a third selective transmission element (8gs) for allowing transmission of light obtained when the light of the first polarization and the light of the second polarization are combined, on the basis of the wavelength band of the light, and for reflecting the light of the fourth polarization.
