SURGICAL ACCESS ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF USE THEREFOR A surgical access assembly (10) includes an access port (1000), a seal anchor (100) and a sealing adapter (150). The access port (1000) includes proximal and distal rings (1030, 1020) and a sleeve (1010) defining a passage therethrough. The sleeve (1010) extends between the proximal and distal rings (1030, 1020). The seal anchor (100) is adapted to be at least partially disposed in the access port (1000). The sealing adapter (150) includes proximal and distal end portions (152, 154). The distal end portion (152) is configured and dimensioned to engage the seal anchor (100) in a sealing relation therewith. The proximal end portion (154) is configured and dimensioned to engage a least a portion of the distal ring (1020) of the access port (1000) in a sealing relation therewith, wherein the sealing adapter (150) is transitionable between a first state in which the sealing adapter (150) has a first diameter and a second state in which the sealing adapter (150) has a second diameter.
