The present invention relates to a service apparatus capable of providing an image appropriate for the specifications of the display of a terminal, and to an image providing method for same, even when precise resolution information is not transferred from the terminal. In the present invention, the terminal executes one or more applications, requests an image from a service apparatus according to a request from an application being executed, and confirms whether an application supports all screen densities. When the application supports all screen densities, the terminal extracts and transmits the resolution value of a region where the image is to be displayed. When the application does not support all screen densities, the terminal extracts and transmits screen density information supported by the application. The service apparatus resizes the image to fit one or more resolution values and screen densities. When an image is requested from the terminal, the service apparatus confirms the resolution value of the terminal and provides the terminal with an image resized properly according to the confirmed resolution value. When only screen density information is transmitted from the terminal, the service apparatus calculates the resolution value from the screen density information, and provides a resized image corresponding to the calculated resolution value to the terminal. |
