The present invention relates to a device for balancing the state of charge of a power source having electrochemical storage and consisting of a plurality of power-storage cells (100), including: a) means (110) for balancing the variations in power in said storage cells (100), thus enabling the temporary storage of the power, each of said balancing means (110) having the equivalent cell (100) and being mounted by a means (105) for connecting a storage cell (100) in parallel; and b) a means (106) for jointly connecting at least two of the balancing means (110) in series, thus making it possible to restore the power from said balancing means (110) to power-storage cells (100) storing the least amount of power. The present invention also relates to a method for balancing the state of charge of a power source having electrochemical storage and consisting of a plurality of cells (100).
