Disclosed are a network switching method, a gateway and a terminal, which relate to the technical field of communications and can avoid air interface and bandwidth resource waste caused by switching failure and ensure stable services. The method in the present invention includes: a gateway receiving a switching request sent by a serving base station (101); judging whether a terminal to be switched in the switching request has acquired an IP address (102); and if the terminal to be switched has acquired an IP address, the gateway sending the switching request to a target base station (103). The embodiments of the present invention are mainly used in the process of network switching.
