Method of producing a reed switch with laser cutting of openings

The method involves providing a single tubular piece (1) with openings (2 to 6) created by laser cutting. The tubular piece is pushed and set at a predetermined position on a mandrel. The tubular piece is machined by two opposite-lying pressing jaws that are pressed behind each other from each one of the openings on the circumference of the tubular piece, such that a switching bevel is formed from the opening. A bearing bush (7.1,7.2) is introduced at each end region of the tubular piece. A locking sleeve (9) and a switch bar (8.1,8.2) are joined to the tubular piece by laser welding. An independent claim is included for a switching tube for a motor vehicle transmission.
