The invention describes a generator assembly apparatus (1) for merging a first annular component (2) and a second annular component (3) of a generator, which generator assembly apparatus (1) comprises a first component support frame (10) for supporting the first component (2) securely mounted to the first component support frame (10); a second component support frame (11) for supporting the second component (3) securely mounted to the second component support frame (11); a moving means (110) for moving one component support frame (11) relative to the other component support frame (10) to merge the components (2, 3) by inserting one component (3) at least partially into an interior region of the other component (2); and an adjustment means (100, 110) for adjusting a position of a support frame (10, 11) such that a pre-defined separation between the first component (2) and the second component (3) is maintained during merging. The invention further describes a method of merging a first annular component (2) and a second annular component (3) of a generator.
