PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided to access to the detail information of an inaccessible application, thereby providing an optimal effect for a backup process and a recovery process. CONSTITUTION: A control unit performs the backup operation and the recovery operation of a mobile terminal. The control unit includes a backup recovery application (213); an application module (210) which drives applications; and a Linux kernel module (240) which manages the basic hardware function of the mobile terminal. The Linux kernel module includes a backup recovery service unit (242) with an access authority. The backup recovery application performs the backup operation and the recovery operation for the data of applications by accessing a file system for the applications through the backup recovery service unit.
