Class 20(4) Comprises three slightly different constructions of machines for assembling strips according to a predetermined pattern, each machine having two feeding devices with the axes of the strips on one feeder at right angles to the axes of the strips on the other feeder, and having gates to control the delivery of the strips in the predetermined sequence called for by the pattern desired. In the construction shown the strips S are fed into shakers 3, 4 and pass by the channels 5 on to two conveyers 6, 7 so that the axes of the two sets of accumulating strips 12, 13 are at right angles to one another. Gates 10, 11 are opened in sequence to permit the passage of five strips at a time from one or other of the conveyers (the sequence being altered after the passage of each " line " comprising four square blocks of five strips each) and each "line " is pushed by a pusher 15 on to an assembling device 8 166 where a paper sheet from a spool 16 is glued over each large square (of four by four blocks) before discharge under a roller 23 to a stacker 24. |
