PURPOSE: A hydraulic turbine having a symmetric airfoil used in a tidal current power generator is provided to allow the airfoil to have a point-symmetric cross section against a cross section at one side of the airfoil, thereby increasing efficiency in power generation by 4 to 10% compared with a symmetric cross section. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic turbine having a symmetric airfoil used in a tidal current power generator includes blades. When a distance (x) from a leading edge to a trailing edge is 1, the cross section of the blade has thickness distribution which is symmetric based on an axis of x = 0.5 and a camber distribution which is symmetric based on an axis of y = x - 0.5. The camber distribution follows values in a table (1) in which the values of thickness and camber against the respective Xc coordinates of an X-axis are marked in dimensionless forms. A thickness ratio in the generator is 10 to 30%. The distribution of the ratio is proportional to the thickness distribution in the table, and the caber has a value identical to the value in the table.
