PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an image on an appropriate position of a sheet while avoiding an increase in cost, even when a sensor piece provided in a resist sensor is worn away by friction with sheets. SOLUTION: When a control part detects that a signal outputted from a resist sensor is switched from an L(low) signal to an H(high) signal (YES in #1), a timing setting part checks the number of sheets being counted by a number of sheets counting part 511 at the moment (#2). In each of correction valuesΔTa andΔTb, a value corresponding to the number of sheets checked in #2 is read out from a storage part 512 (#3), and sets timing obtained by subtracting the correction valueΔTa from the timing of switching from the L(low) signal to the H(high) signal as sheet tip passage timing (#4). A conveying control part and an image forming part allow to start driving of a motor 32 driving a resist roller 31 and an image forming operation by the image forming part 14 at the sheet tip passage timing (#5).
