The mounting frame (31) has a spacer bracket (36) that is attached in a side wall of the mounting frame. The spacer bracket is flexible between a wider outward projecting position and a lesser outward projecting position. The spacer bracket is attached in the two opposite side walls, particularly front-sided and rear-sided side walls of the mounting frame. The spacer bracket is connected with the mounting frame to a passage between the associated side walls and a base (17) of the mounting frame. An independent claim is included for a method for mounting a hob by a mounting frame.
