Class 136(1) In a control device of the kind comprising a rack member 3 which is longitudinally slidable in a housing and is connected to the inner cable 18 of a flexible cable, movement of the rack member being effected by a pinion 5 of which the teeth mesh with the teeth of the rack member, the pinion and its spindle 6 are mounted so that they can be moved axially against the action of a spring 10 to a position in which the pinion teeth are disengaged from the rack teeth the spring normally urging the pinion to the position where its teeth engage with the teeth of the rack, and the pinion 5 is provided with a continuous flange engaged with the rack members to prevent the pinion from moving beyond the engaged position. A cover plate 12 also holds the pinion in the engaged position. The free end of the spindle 6 is fitted with an operating knob 14. Specification 763,845 [Group XXVI] is referred to. |
